Review: ‘Making the Postcard Women’s Imaginarium: Dreaming our Futures out of our Past’

A few weeks ago, I was delighted to take part in setting up of the exhibition which bears this name at the Camden Image Gallery in London. This book is a collection of essays on the subject of by Salma Ahmad Caller – also editor of the book – and other writers, artists and a poet, that explore the representation and often dehumanising perceptions of women on postcards from the Arab and African regions in the late 19th and 20th centuries.
